Student Spotlight - Annabel B

Congratulations to Annabel B (Y10) on winning the Tenant’s Choice Award at the Angelico Art Exhibition. The Angelico Art Exhibition is a prestigious annual event on the Catholic school art calendar and is part of the Spirit of the Arts Festival. The exhibition is named after Blessed Fra Angelico. Annabel’s graphite-on-paper artwork, titled King of Kings, depicts both Jesus’ divinity and humanity. She chose to show His compassionate nature through His gaze and facial expression, while creating a stark contrast between light and shadow to represent His authoritative nature.

Annabel used dramatic side lighting to symbolise how Jesus is the light in times of darkness. The realistic details make the viewer feel as though they are face-to-face with Christ, looking directly into His eyes. Well done, Annabel, on your outstanding achievement!

The Wizard of Oz - 2027 Musical Production

"Somewhere over the rainbow, skies are blue and the dreams that you dare to dream really do come true."

Venture with us as we follow the yellow brick road to create the magical world of The Wizard of Oz – our College Musical for 2027.  The beloved characters of Dorothy, Toto, the Scarecrow, Tin Man, Cowardly Lion, Glinda, Wicked Witch, Citizens of Munchkin Land and the Emerald City will be brought to life on the Xanten stage by our passionate and talented students. This promises to be an adventure with heart, humour and nostalgic music.

There are performance opportunities for singers, actors, dancers; those who have skills in all three areas and those who are not sure if they have skills but definitely have enthusiasm and a passion for the Arts – be brave, take a risk and join the creative team. Interested students are invited to audition in Week 10 this term:

When: Monday 21 September and Tuesday 22 September

Where: Xanten Theatre

Audition packs and registration will be available in the next few weeks.  Feel free to chat to the Arts staff for more information.

We also have creative opportunities being launched for the community to explore their artistic side.  Stay tuned in Term 4 to see how you could be a part of bringing this magical world to life.
