Prayer

Gracious and merciful God,

You drew St. Augustine to yourself by a love of the truth, and he fell captive to your word.

You made his life a constant quest to know you and rejoice in you, and in finding you to seek you with ever greater love.

You chose him to be shepherd of your flock, which he guided with a wise and a gentle hand, encouraging your people to grow in the likeness of your Son.

Renew us in the spirit you poured upon the Holy father Augustine, so filled with the same spirit, we may thirst for you, the only source of true wisdom, and search for you, the author of eternal love. 

Deliver us from the pride that mistakes mere information for true wisdom. 

May all that we teach, learn, and do here sharpen our minds, deepen our faith, and strengthen our service to one another.

Keep our hearts restless for your goodness until we rest in You.
