Principal's Message
Mr Stephen Mahoney
Dear Parents and Carers,
As Term 3 comes to a close, we celebrate a key moment in the school year: the end of formal schooling for our Year 12 students.
Every graduating class is special, but I believe there's something truly unique about our students at St Aloysius College Cronulla. For generations, our Year 12 cohorts have shared a genuine LaSallian spirit—a powerful sense of unity and togetherness that simply can't be taught. I'm so proud of how this particular group of young men and women has handled their final week with such maturity and responsibility.
I recently spoke with our Year 12 students about the importance of "finishing well," encouraging them to make positive choices and create lasting memories during this special time. While it's certainly an exciting period as their 13 years of schooling comes to a close, there is still much to accomplish. Significant learning gains can be made in the final weeks before the HSC exams, and it's essential that students use this time wisely.
Now that the Trial HSC is complete, I encourage them to refocus. They can make the most of this time by working with their peers, submitting practice papers for teacher feedback, and even teaching each other. Our school facilities, especially the Village Learning Centre, are available over the holiday period, and I highly recommend that students create a structured study timetable to stay on track.
I wish this wonderful group of students all the best for the rest of 2026 and for all the adventures that lie ahead.
As announced on Compass, congratulations to the following students! We wish them all the best as they embark on their leadership roles during Term 4 and into 2027. Our student leadership team will be commissioned at the Investiture Mass at St Aloysius Church Cronulla, on Friday, 30 October at 9.30am. We warmly invite parents, carers and family members to this celebration.

On Friday, 18 September, our College community joined together with our partner Catholic schools—Our Lady of Mercy College Burraneer, St Francis De Sales Primary School Woolooware, and St Aloysius Primary School Cronulla—for a deeply moving Eucharistic Procession.
Gathering in unified faith, students and staff processed from Shelly Park along the Esplanade, sweeping past Blackwoods Beach and Cronulla Point, before returning to St Aloysius Parish, Cronulla. This special gathering served as an important spiritual step as our local region prepares for the landmark International Eucharistic Congress in Sydney in 2028.
It was an incredible, prayerful celebration, and I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to Fr James McCarthy, Parish Priest of Cronulla, for his spiritual leadership throughout the day. My sincere gratitude also goes to the dedicated staff across all four school communities whose collaborative effort made this event so seamless and meaningful.
A special mention must go to our Year 7 and Year 9 students who represented our College. Their reverence, active participation, and exemplary conduct along the coastal route were a true witness to our faith in the public sphere.
Events like these remind us of the strength of our broader Catholic family across the Shire, grounding our young people in prayer, community, and shared purpose.
Please take the opportunity to use this facility as part of your preparations for your upcoming HSC exams. Full details of the times and days are outlined in the following St Aloysius Year 12 Study Club Spring 2026
No classes on this day.
As outlined in a message on Compass, the College staff (including our support/office staff) will be attending a Staff Spirituality Day on Friday, 25 September. There will be no classes on this day. All staff will be offsite at an external venue for this day.
As previously advised, I will be participating in the upcoming St Paul & the Early Church Pilgrimage. This spiritual journey will be hosted by His Grace Archbishop Anthony Fisher OP and accompanied by Ms Danielle Cronin, Executive Director of Sydney Catholic Schools, alongside fellow Principals from across the Archdiocese.
As I trace the historic foundations of our faith, I look forward to this special time of spiritual renewal and reflection. I am eager to bring the rich fruits of this experience back to nourish and strengthen our St Aloysius College community.
During my absence, Mrs Therese Hughes (Assistant Principal: Mission) and Mr Jon Cullerton (Assistant Principal: College) will lead the College through the final week of Term 3 and the spring break. Please be assured our school community remains in wonderful hands.
Students return to the College on Tuesday, 13 October for lessons and need to be in full summer uniform. (Monday, 12 October is staff development day)
Wishing all of our College families and staff a well-deserved and restful spring holiday break.
