News from Year 5/6
Japanese Fun Day
A huge well done to our amazing Year 5/6 students who took on their leadership roles so confidently during Japanese Fun Day.
They were fantastic role models, helping our younger students and showing them what to do, whether it was cooking or making origami. We were so proud to see them step up, take responsibility and show such wonderful kindness and leadership.
Downball
This Friday, some Year 5/6 students will be heading down to the Yarra Centre to compete in a Downball Competition. Good luck to those students attending!
Class Novel: Tom Appleby
We are almost at the end of our class novel, Tom Appleby, Convict Boy, and the students have really enjoyed following Tom’s journey.
Along the way, we have also been learning about the lives of child convicts who were sent to Australia. Our research has helped us understand what life was like for these young children and the experiences they faced. Would it have benefitted them to stay in England, or did they have a better chance to make a life for themselves in Australia?
It has been a great novel to explore together, and we are looking forward to finding out how Tom’s story ends!
Upper Yarra Visit to St Joe’s
Next Thursday, we will have some Year 7 teachers from Upper Yarra visiting our school to meet with the Year 6 students who will be heading to UYSC next year.
They will be doing some testing with the students and having a chat with them about the move to secondary school. It will be a great opportunity for students to meet some of their future teachers and start preparing for the next chapter.
Homework Reminder
Just a little reminder for everyone to keep up with their homework each week. It is important that students complete their homework and bring it back to school on time.

Finishing Term 3 Strong
As we come towards the end of Term 3 and look ahead to Term 4, we want to finish the term strong.
We encourage all students to keep showing positive attitudes towards their learning, giving their best, and continuing to show respect and kindness towards their peers and teachers.
Let's finish Term 3 on a high and carry these positive attitudes into Term 4!
