National Science Week

A Week of Science, Discovery and Fun Starts Monday 17 August

Looking for something different to do at lunchtime? National Science Week is coming up, and there will be a range of fun and engaging activities running every lunchtime throughout the week. Whether you enjoy solving problems, testing your creativity, watching films, or hearing from real scientists, there is something for everyone.

The week kicks off on Monday 17 August with a special SCINEMA screening in the Auditorium. Grab your lunch, find a seat, and enjoy an award-winning science film. It's the perfect chance to relax with friends while discovering the fascinating world of science on the big screen.

On Tuesday 18 August, put your knowledge to the test at our Brain-Break Science Trivia session in B2. Expect a mix of science facts, puzzles, and surprising questions that will challenge even the most curious minds.

Get ready to think like an engineer on Wednesday 19 August at the STEM Challenge in Room 20. Students will work on designing and building a water filter, tackling a real-world problem through creativity, teamwork, and scientific thinking.

To finish the week, don't miss the exciting opportunity to e-Meet Biomedical Scientist Dr Brendon from the University of Melbourne and the Peter Doherty Institute on Friday 21 August. Find out what it’s really like to work in biomedical science, hear about current research, and ask questions about careers in STEM.

National Science Week is all about celebrating curiosity, innovation, and discovery. No registrations are required, so come along to any activity that interests you.

Bring your lunch, bring your curiosity, and see you at lunchtime during National Science Week!
