National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day

National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day is celebrated each year on 4 August. First established in 1988, the day recognises and celebrates the strengths, cultures, identities and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children across Australia.

The day highlights the importance of ensuring all children are supported to grow up strong in their culture, community and sense of belonging. It also provides an opportunity for all Australians to learn about and value the rich histories, traditions and perspectives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

We wish all members of the Koonung community well as we acknowledge and celebrate National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day.
