Year 5 Open Classrooms

The Year 5 Open Classroom event was very well attended, with a strong turnout of parents and carers. It provided a valuable opportunity for students to share and celebrate their learning, proudly showcasing a range of work from across the term. Families enjoyed engaging with the classroom environment and gaining insight into the skills and progress their children have been making. It was a positive and rewarding experience for students, teachers and parents alike.

Some feedback from parents has been shared below.

“I really enjoyed the open classroom experience and loved seeing the wonderful work the students have been doing. It was clear how much effort, creativity and learning has taken place throughout the year. The classroom felt warm, welcoming and positive, creating an environment where students feel comfortable and supported. My son was so excited to share his work and it was wonderful to see how confident, happy and proud he is of his achievements. Thank you for creating such a nurturing classroom where students are encouraged to learn, grow and be themselves. Your dedication and care are truly appreciated.” (Mrs Roumanous, mother of Christian R- 5 Orange).

“It was a real privilege to see firsthand what my son has been learning and achieving over his first two terms at St Patrick’s. Walking through his classroom and seeing his work on display, I was genuinely impressed by his growth, both academically and in his self confidence. It’s clear so much thought and care goes into the learning environment you’ve created, and I want to thank his teachers for such a positive start to his education here. We’re really grateful to be part of the St Patrick's community.”  (Mrs Iemma, mother of Ollie I - 5 Black).

“It was lovely to visit the classroom and see the safe, positive and engaging learning environment that Mr Simpson and the boys have created. The classroom was buzzing and it was wonderful to see how engaged the boys were and how proud they were to share everything they had been working on. Mr Simpson’s calm and encouraging nature was also lovely to observe, along with the genuine connection he has built with the boys. I particularly enjoyed seeing how activities such as the Soccer World Cup project have motivated the boys to research and learn about different countries while developing valuable research skills in a fun and meaningful way and work together with care and respect.” (Mrs Ghabar - mother of Matty in 5 Gold)

“It was really nice to see how proud and excited Richard was to share his work. It was great to see the variety and quantity of schoolwork they have completed till now. One highlight was seeing a board game he and his two classmates collaborated on. They clearly enjoyed the learning experience. Overall, the classroom visit was very positive, a lovely relaxed classroom environment with the boys comfortable and proud to share what they have completed.” (Mrs Maksour- mother of Richard - 5 Green)

“It was wonderful to attend the showcase and see the work the boys have been doing throughout the term. A special thank you to Mr Simpson for his dedication and enthusiasm in the classroom. I particularly enjoyed seeing the World Cup country projects and learning more about the research and creativity that went into them. Sebastian’s journal was also a highlight—what a lovely idea to encourage the boys to write and reflect each day. It was wonderful to see his growth and effort captured over time. (Mrs Falvo Farias, mother of Sebastian - 5 Gold)

“Attending the Open Classroom for 5 Red was a wonderful experience and a great opportunity to see firsthand all that Jackson has achieved so far at SPC. We were incredibly proud to see the quality of his work, the effort he has put into his learning, and the confidence he showed when sharing his achievements with us. It was clear that he has grown both academically and personally throughout the year. The classroom was vibrant, engaging, and showcased the students' hard work across a range of key learning areas. These reflected not only the students' creativity and knowledge but also the dedication and support of their teachers". (Mr and Mrs Kirk, parents of Jackson K – 5 Red).
