Year 12 Trial HSC Examinations

Year 12 students are encouraged to make purposeful use of the upcoming holidays by dedicating regular time to preparation for the Trial HSC examinations, which begin on Monday 3 August 2026. Students now have access to the Trial HSC examination timetable and pre-task information, which provide clear guidance on the expectations, skills, knowledge and understanding relevant to each course.

To support effective revision, students should conclude Term 2 with clear advice from their teachers about how best to use their time, organise their resources, consolidate their learning and strengthen their examination preparation.

Students are also encouraged to access the HSC examination resources available on the NESA website via the following link NESA Website. These include past examination papers, marking guidelines, sample answers and HSC examination feedback for most subjects.

While the sample answers are not student responses and are not intended to represent complete or exemplary responses, they remain valuable in helping students understand how marking guidelines are applied.

Year 12 details via Students Online

Year 12 students and their parents/carers are reminded that NESA’s Students Online facility is each student’s personal source of information about their HSC. Students should log in to check that their name, courses, ATAR eligibility or status, address, email address and phone number are correct.

Changes to address, email address and phone number may be made in the personal details section of Students Online. The College must also be informed of any changes. Updates to personal details should be made through the College Enrolments Officer, Mrs Saoud, while course changes should be referred to the Director of Curriculum, Mr Martin.

Students should also note that their personal HSC timetable is available through Students Online. Assessment ranks will be available after the final HSC examination on Thursday 5 November, and HSC results will be released on Wednesday 16 December 2026.

Reminder: Year 11 2027 Subject Selection

As previously communicated, Year 10 students have until 9:00 AM on Tuesday 21 July 2026 to submit their online subject selections for Year 11, 2027.

Students and families are encouraged to access the online resources provided, alongside the two information evenings, including the VET-focused evening, and meetings with our Head of Careers, to support informed choices about the most appropriate pattern of study for next year.

When making subject choices, families are reminded that the recommendations provided apply only to a small range of subjects. They are intended to offer guidance based on each student’s demonstrated capabilities and performance. They do not prevent a student from enrolling in, or studying, a particular course; rather, they are designed to support students and families in making informed and appropriate subject choices. They are also not intended to represent recommendations about all subjects a student could or should study.

Year 9, 2027 Elective Subject Selection

As communicated in the Especean and directly with families, on Wednesday 24 June 2026, Year 8 students will attend presentations in the Hall on the Year 9, 2027 elective subjects. They will hear from, and have the opportunity to ask questions of, the Heads of Department who lead the teaching teams delivering these elective subjects.

The 2027 Year 9 Subject Prospectus is now available via the TASS Parent Loungeand on the Year 8 CANVASpage. This document outlines NESA Stage 5 (ie Years 9 and 10) mandatory and elective subjects. Students and families are encouraged to review the prospectus in conjunction with the information provided and the conversations that will take place during Wednesday’s session.

Wednesday’s information session will also outline the elective subject selection process and identify the appropriate points of contact for any further questions. Slides from thesession will be made available to students and families later that day, including the deadline for submitting elective subject selections.

Cultural Passport Day

Last Friday, our Year 8 students took part in Cultural Passport Day, a collaborative initiative between Performing Arts and Languages designed to give our boys exciting new experiences and exposure to subjects they may not have had the opportunity to explore before. The day encouraged curiosity, creativity, and cultural awareness as students rotated through a series of hands‑on workshops that broadened their understanding of global traditions and artistic expression.

The day began with “check-in” at the Robson Auditorium, where students collected their ‘tickets’ before embarking on a journey through five engaging workshops.

In Drama, students worked with professional actors Nancy Denis and Yure Covich, exploring improvisation and developing their ability to find truth in performance. In Music, they experienced the energy of Lebanese drumming before moving into live performance skills, singing and playing guitar alongside Australian Idol finalist Tim Conlon.

In Languages, students applied and extended their Italian knowledge in a fun and active way, decoding football positions before taking to the field, and working collaboratively to piece together a pasta recipe.

At Recess and Lunch, the boys were also treated to delicious Italian zuccherati and pizza, adding to the immersive cultural experience of the day.

Our students embraced each activity with enthusiasm and positivity, and we hope they thoroughly enjoyed their travels across the worlds of Performing Arts and Languages.
