Yarra District Intermediate Soccer Competition

9/10 Girls Soccer

The Year 9's and 10's went out to play interschool soccer at Monbulk Ranges Soccer Club. The girls came home with a win in all three games and made it to the Yarra District despite being two players short all day. The results for the first game against Lilydale High was 2-0, Emerald was 7-0 and the finals were 1-0 against Lilydale High.   A highlight was Charlotte P. and Olive B. both scoring a hat trick in the Emerald game, capping off a great team performance. Everyone had lots of fun and it was a wonderful experience. We look forward to Eastern Zone in Term 3.

Year 9/10 Boys Soccer

It was a great day of soccer on May 6th, even though unfortunately we lost some players to injury. The Boys A Team got off to a great start, winning their first match 3-1 over Monbulk. The second match was tougher than the first, but we ended up getting a nice 1-0 win over Emerald. Unfortunately, the streak of wins couldn't continue with the next match. We ended up drawing 1-1 with Lilydale High. Despite the score it was a good performance from both teams; unfortunately we conceded late into the game. Fortunately, despite the result in the third match, we still made finals. The final match, which was against Yarra Valley Steiner, was the hardest of the day. Both teams played very well. We went 1-0 down early in the first half, but late into the half we scored a superb goal from outside of the box that went into the top corner. In the second half we managed to score to take the lead, which we managed to hold on to. It was a well deserved win and a great way to wrap up the day. Despite the injuries, everyone played well and we look forward to the next stage later in the year.
