Main Campus - Year 4

What’s Been Happening in Year 4?

What a busy and exciting couple of weeks the Grade 4 students have had.

It was an absolute pleasure to see so many Grade 4 students participate in the CDSSA Cross Country at Hanging Rock last week. We witnessed some great dedication, persistence and true sportsmanship. Well done to all students!

The Carlsrue campus was buzzing with excitement today, as it was changeover day for 4KR and 4AD!  4KR will be at Carlsruhe for the remainder of the year. 4AD will head back out to Carlsruhe towards the end of Term 3. 4BE will stay at Carlsruhe to teach 4KR the ropes!

Literacy

During Literacy, Grade 4 students have been busy working on their Biome projects, creating informative posters about a biome found in Australia and using a key location as a case study. Students are developing their research and note-taking skills by identifying important information, recording notes, and turning these into detailed sentences. They have been highly engaged in applying these skills to locate and record the information they need, and their projects are sounding fantastic so far. We look forward to seeing their finished creations and listening to them present their learning to our class community.

Numeracy

In Maths, students have been developing their understanding of the equals sign by finding missing numbers and balancing equations. They have also been exploring efficient mental and written strategies for solving addition problems, including using vertical addition to solve larger numbers accurately. Through these activities, students are building confidence in choosing appropriate strategies and applying place value knowledge when working with number problems.

Carlsruhe Annexe

Cubby inspections happen regularly at Carlsruhe to make sure we are keeping our cubbies safe, inclusive, and respectful! The cubby inspectors visit each cubby and the winning cubby receives the golden pinecone. Our vegetable garden is looking fabulous with our lettuce, beans, and silverbeet seedlings planted. The Carlsruhe chickens have been loving their shredded paper bedding and the guinea pigs have been enjoying extra straw to keep them warm on these chilly mornings.
