Foundation Unit

This fortnight, students have been excited to learn more letters and sounds and practice applying them when reading text. Students have now learned 22 different letters, their sounds, cued articulation and how to form the letters.
In Reading, students have continued to practice blending sounds together to read words. We have also been looking at fiction and non-fiction texts. Students have been investigating the different features of these texts.
In Writing, students have been learning to recall facts from a text and write about these facts in their own words. Students have been reading the ‘Encyclopedia of Dangerous Animals’ and have been sharing why we should not mess with these animals.
In Maths, we have explored counting collections with one to one correspondence and identifying one more and one less.
In Inquiry, students partook in our Wild Action incursion. They were able to see and touch native Australian animals such as a crocodile, wallaroo, wombat and much more. If you would like to see a photo of your child holding these animals, please come and look at their writing displayed outside their classroom.
