From the Principal & Assistant Principal

eSmart Day
Last Wednesday our students participated in eSmart day. We run this day annually as an opportunity to continually build on students' understanding of how to stay safe online and to help us all keep up with the ever changing online world. Thanks to the parents who were able to attend the before and after school parent sessions, we hope you found the information shared, useful. Thanks also to Mrs Katherine Richardson for her organisation of this day and working with our facilitators from the Allanah and Madeline Foundation. If you would like more information or resources to support you at home, please go to the eSafety Commissioner website, which has resources for all ages.
Student and Staff Illness
As the colder weather has started to set in so have the colds, flus and viruses that often get transmitted at this time of year. Please be alert for Compass notifications advising of contagious illnesses that may be around.
Industrial Action
As advised via Compass, AEU teacher industrial action remains on hold, in terms of the proposed half day stop work that was scheduled to occur yesterday. We are awaiting an update on the progress on negotiations and are hopeful that all action will end soon. We will keep you updated via Compass.
Carlsruhe Changeover
Today the students from 4KR have transitioned out to Carlsruhe for their first rotation, the students have been excited about exploring their new environment but also a little nervous about leaving the main campus. We look forward to hearing about their learning journey over the coming weeks. The changeover means that students in 4AD are now back on the main campus.
National Simultaneous Storytime
Our amazing students will be participating in the National Simultaneous Storytime on Wednesday 27th May. NSS is a way to celebrate and develop a love of literacy. Schools from all over Australia, New Zealand (and even other parts of the world) will all stop and read the same story. We will then participate in an activity related to the story.
This year’s book is titled, ‘Luna Roo: the Kangaroo Baller’. It’s a story about Luna learning to believe in her skills and trust her teammates whilst developing her courage, perseverance and determination. We will also receive a video of ex-Matildas star, Elise Kellond-Knight, reading the story aloud.
Emergency Drills
Next week we have scheduled an emergency drill for staff and students, which is something we practice each term. We will be holding a 'lock in from outside', during this drill students will be required to move from an outdoor space into our Shelter in Place building (the school hall). Teachers will prepare students for this drill. Please talk to your child about this drill and why it is important that we hold these.
Foundation Enrolment 2027
Tours for Foundation enrolment for 2027 commenced at the end of last term, we also held a Parent Information evening on Wednesday. If you have a child who will be starting school next year please contact the office for an enrolment form.
