From the Director of Junior School

Mrs Melissa Thirgood

Dear Families,

It is hard to believe we have reached the end of Term 1, and what a busy and rewarding term it has been for our students and staff. From the Year 3–6 Swimming Carnival and Prep–Year 4 Water Safety, to Diversity Week, Lent and Easter liturgies, assemblies and Grandparents and Special Friends' Day, our Junior School has been full of rich experiences. Alongside these events, it has been wonderful to see the incredible growth each student has made through their learning, both inside and outside the classroom.

I would like to sincerely thank our teachers, learning support officers and administrative staff for their unwavering dedication to our students. No task is too big or too small when it comes to ensuring our students feel safe, heard and respected each day. I also thank our families for their continued support throughout the term. We truly value the strong partnership we share with you as we work together to achieve the best possible outcomes for your children.

On behalf of the Junior School staff, I wish our students and families a restful and enjoyable Term 1 holiday and look forward to welcoming you back on Monday 4 May

Lunchtimes in our Junior School

Thank you to the families who took the time to provide feedback on our reverse lunch trial. Feedback from staff and students indicated that most did not wish to return to the original structure, preferring either the new arrangement or a more flexible approach with no set eating time.

After carefully considering all feedback from families, staff and students, we will be moving to the following lunchtime structure, with student wellbeing at the centre of our decision-making.

  • Prep – Year 2 students will continue to have a set eating time supervised by their class teachers. This allows staff to monitor eating habits and ensure students are eating. This will take place between 1.15pm–1.30pm.
  • Year 3–6 students may begin eating at the start of the timetabled lunch break at 12.50pm, with duty teachers monitoring as they do at recess. Lunch orders will also be available at this time.

I would like to thank the Murphy's Café staff for their flexibility and support as we work together to ensure the needs of our students remain our priority.
