Overall, students have continued to practise their dances for the School Concer Dancing Through the Decades.
Foundation
So far this term, students have been involved in the musical elements of Beat and Pitch. Students have moved and danced to music with a steady beat and music with no beat. They have participated in the exercise The Pony Gallop and the game Rhythm Detective.
Year 1
This term so far students have explored the musical elements of Dynamics and Tempo. They have created their own movement and different sequences within a song and have had a chance to perform in front of the class.
Year 2
This term so far, students have been involved in investigating sound symbols and sequences. Some exercise examples have been composing their own music symbols, moving to puppet music and responding to the picture Ocean Soundscape.
Year 3
This term, students have been involved in the music element of Exploring Sound. They have investigated Mouth Music, Sound Words, and Vocal Rhythms. They have learned the song The Sound of Your Voice and added vocal effects to the verse Rumble in The Jungle.
Year 4
This term so far, students have explored the musical element of Musical Pictures. Students have created images to show moods, feelings and emotions suggested by different musical pieces and visual imagery. Students have created a piece of music to the images Rush Hour and a Storyboard.
Year 5 & 6
This term, students have explored the musical elements of Tempo and Lyrics. For example, they have learned techniques to generate lyrics. They have also experimented with different tempos and explored the concepts of Beats per Minute.
School Concert
All classes have been busy practising their dance songs for the school concert Friday 29th August . They have taken the opportunity to practise outside in our beautiful winter sunshine in front of each other. It is wonderful to watch the joy of dance, working as a team and the positive progress in confidence of all of our students.
