Learning Diversity Term 3

At Stella Maris we strive to provide authentic learning programs to meet the diverse needs of all students. Teachers continually fine-tune teaching strategies for individual students and through this process may provide adjustments and additional supports. The Learning Diversity Team in conjunction with families and teachers identifies and provides adjustment and support in all learning areas, for social –emotional concerns and for physical and sensory needs. We believe that it is by working together students grow, develop and achieve success. 

Stella Maris endeavours to recognise and cater for high-achieving and talented students in a variety of ways through differentiated learning programs and extension tasks within the school and participation in events with other schools.

Last week a group of 8 Year 5 Students competed against 12 other schools in a Maths Association Victoria Games Day competition. We are very proud of all students who participated so co-operatively and displayed great team work. A Stella Maris team of 4 students won the Competition! An exemplary achievement against 12 Catholic, State and Independent schools.

Next Week August 10 to August 14, 2026. all classes from Year 3-6 are participating in the Matific Maths Olympiad. This is a week-long online gamified mathematics competition inviting primary school students to solve interactive challenges, earn stars, and climb leader boards.

High- achieving students from Years 2-6 are nominated to participate in GATEWAYS programs in term 2 –Mathematics and Term 3 – Science. This terms Science and Inquiry Program is “Into The Unknown “and is scheduled for Thursday 13th August at Stella. We look forward to hearing all about their scientific discoveries.
