IBDP Academic Excellence

On the 10th of February 2026, our Year 12 IBDP student, Thaya Kovaleva, was awarded a Certificate of Distinction in recognition of her exceptional achievement of 41 out of 45 in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme; a result that places her among the highest-performing students worldwide.

Over the course of the rigorous two-year programme, Thaya distinguished herself not only through academic excellence, but through integrity, compassion and an unwavering commitment to growth. Her intellectual curiosity, disciplined work ethic and genuine love of learning were evident in every aspect of her studies. A particular highlight of her academic journey was achieving a perfect score of 7 out of 7 in three subjects. This was an extraordinary accomplishment that reflects both depth of understanding and sustained excellence.

Beyond the classroom, Thaya exemplified the IB learner profile in action. One of her most significant achievements was initiating and leading a fundraiser for the Royal Children’s Hospital, raising $1,000 to support children and families in need. This initiative demonstrated leadership, empathy and a strong sense of social responsibility, qualities that define true global citizenship. Thaya is also a gifted linguist, fluent in French, Chinese, Spanish, Russian and English. Her remarkable command of five languages speaks not only to her academic ability, but also to her cultural awareness and global outlook.

We are proud to share that Thaya has been accepted into the University of Melbourne to study International Relations and Arts, a pathway aligned with her strengths, passions and aspirations. Thaya’s achievements are a testament to her perseverance, character and ambition. She has left a lasting impression on our school community, and we have no doubt she will continue to make a meaningful impact in the years ahead.
