Year 7 Camp

Our Year 7 students recently attended their first secondary school camp in Anglesea, where they enjoyed an action-packed program of outdoor adventures, team-building activities and memorable shared experiences.

Across the camp, students participated in a variety of activities including surfing, kayaking, high ropes, rock climbing and initiative challenges. In the evenings, students took part in a range of night activities that helped build a strong sense of community and added to the fun of the camp experience. They completed a hike out to the lookout, taking in the stunning local scenery and the next night spent time at the beach enjoying games and group activities.

A particular highlight for many was the food, notably the BBQ cooked by our superstar Year 10 Peer Support students. We also had the pleasure of celebrating Bruno’s birthday while on camp, which made the experience even more special.

It was fantastic to see students forming new friendships, strengthening existing ones and learning more about the people in their cohort. Whether they were participating in group activities, supporting one another through challenges or simply sharing meals and conversations, it was beautiful to watch the students build a sense of belonging and community across the year level.

Equally important was the opportunity for staff and students to connect in a different setting. Camps provide a valuable space for teachers to get to know students beyond the classroom, helping to establish trust, rapport and positive relationships early in the year. These connections are essential in creating a supportive learning environment where students feel known, valued and confident to take on new experiences, particularly during the transition across from primary school into secondary school.

The Anglesea camp was a valuable opportunity for students to try new things, work together and strengthen friendships within the Year 7 cohort. It was a highly enjoyable and successful experience for all involved!
