College Swimming Trials
Our swimming trials were held in the BARC last week with students having the option to compete in their age groups against their fellow students. There were some very fast times set and very close finishes to make it an exciting event. There were House Points up for grabs with Bogong (56pts) coming out on top by 1pt over Curlip (55 pts). Well done to all that competed on the day, it was great to see you put in such a good effort.
Congratulations to our age group champions, they were as follows:
Girl’s/ 13’s - Lilly, 14’s - Lola, 15’s - Tori
Boy’s/13’s - Edward, 14’s - Cooper, 15’s - Hayden, 16’s - Josh
Qualified students will compete in the East Gippsland Swimming Championships next Thursday 26th February at the Orbost Swimming Pool.
Gymkhana
7 students represented the College at the Bairnsdale Pony Club Interschool Gymkhana last Friday. The students and their beautiful ponies were judged in several different activities, gaining them several 1sts, 2nds and 3rd’s. Congratulations to Mabel, Luca, Alexis, Sienna, Alexa, Charlie, Shakira for representing the College to such a high standard at this fantastic local event.
East Gippsland Senior Boys Cricket
The Lucknow Recreation Reserve was the place to be to watch our Senior Team face off against Nagle. We bowled first to a confident opening pair from Nagle, allowing them to set a solid partnership after 3 dropped catches from BSC. Once the pair were removed, our skills improved and our bowling sharpened, finishing the innings at 6 for 158.
After an underwhelming first 5 overs, our batters tried their hardest to settle down and put on some runs on the board. Unfortunately, it wasn’t the team’s day, with the opposition taking the win. Nonetheless, the group bonded well, having a great day out each other and the opposition.
Best bowling:
Kane – 2/7 (2 overs)
Archie – 2/10 (2 overs)
Ayrton – 1/14 (2 overs)
Finn – 1/18 (2 overs)
Batting:
Riley – 12
Oakley – 12
Finn – 9
Kabir – 9 = Total score: all out for 72 (chasing 158)
