Boarding News

The rhythm of boarding life continues to provide our students with a wonderful balance of recreation, community and personal growth. Last weekend was another outstanding example, with a diverse range of activities allowing boarders to connect, unwind and create lasting memories.

A particular highlight was a very memorable trip to Suncorp Stadium, where more than 50 boarders attended the Dolphins versus Broncos clash. Adding to the excitement was a special sideline experience that gave our students the opportunity to stand on the edge of the field and watch the players complete their pre-match warm-ups from close range. With over 50,000 passionate supporters filling the stadium, the atmosphere was electric during the game and provided a wonderful experience for all involved.

Our recreation program also included a Friday evening cinema outing, where a group of boys enjoyed the latest Spider-Man movie. The reviews from our young critics were overwhelmingly positive, making it another successful social activity. Closer to home, our boarders proudly continued the tradition of providing strong "Hive" support at College sporting fixtures, cheering on our Firsts Rugby League and Firsts Basketball teams as both secured impressive victories.

On Sunday, many boarders embraced the challenge of the annual Walkathon, completing a 10-kilometre walk through the picturesque Enoggera Army Barracks precinct. Blessed with beautiful weather, the event offered a valuable opportunity for our boys to be active, spend time together and contribute to a terrific community initiative.

This week has brought a much quieter atmosphere to the boarding house as many students have taken the opportunity to spend time with family and friends during the Ekka break. For those remaining at the College, the week provides a welcome chance to recharge, catch up on academic commitments and prepare for the busy weeks ahead. The Ekka break remains a valued tradition within our boarding community and is appreciated by both boarders and their families as an important midpoint pause during the term.

The coming week also sees our boarding community participate in the 2026 Census. Students residing in the boarding house on Census night will complete the required documentation under staff guidance, while families have been advised that boarders who are away on leave should be included in their household Census submission.

As always, I thank our boarding staff, students and families for their continued support and contribution to the vibrant community we enjoy. We look forward to welcoming everyone back following the break and finishing the term strongly.
