Sunday morning’s Battle of the Bands was a fantastic celebration of student talent, showcasing 12 outstanding student bands in front of an enthusiastic audience. The standard of performance was exceptionally high this year, making the judges’ task incredibly difficult.
We were privileged to welcome Tyrone Noonan as our guest judge. Tyrone is an acclaimed Australian musician, songwriter and producer, best known as a founding member of the ARIA Award-winning Brisbane band George. An Old Boy of the College (Class of 1987), Tyrone brought a wealth of industry experience and insight to the event.
Congratulations to all students who performed, and especially to our place-getters:
1st Place: Dark//Matter (Cody Bedford, Tom Corby, Liam Lunney, Lucas Weigl)
2nd Place: Copacetic (Will Thomas, Andrew Boys, Thomas Ryan, Hudson Melrose)
3rd Place: Cooper Matthews Band (Cooper Matthews, Harrison Hind, Luke Dwyer, Baxter Jordan, Willem Starrenburg)
A huge thank you to every band, staff member and supporter who helped make the morning such a success. The future of live music is certainly bright, and our student musicians continue to impress with their creativity, dedication and musicianship.
As we head into the EKKA break, we would like to wish all of our ensembles the very best as they prepare to perform at the Queensland Catholic Colleges Music Festival at Villanova College.
This annual festival provides a wonderful opportunity for students to showcase their talents, perform alongside other outstanding school ensembles, and celebrate the joy of music-making. We are incredibly proud of the commitment, hard work and dedication our musicians have shown throughout the year, and we look forward to seeing them represent the College with excellence.
Families and friends are warmly encouraged to come along and support our talented performers throughout the festival.
For students involved, please ensure you are familiar with the performance schedule below and revisit the emails that have been sent home for detailed information regarding all important event details.
