What we are learning!
Maths:
In Maths across the last two weeks, we have continued building our understanding of Partitioning and the concept of Part-Part-Whole. Students have been working hard to ensure that they can grasp the concepts and put it into practice during our sessions. It has been fabulous to see their confidence growing with every passing day. We have been using various resources and materials to help them and everyone has been thoroughly enjoying themselves.
Inquiry:
Our focus for Inquiry this term has been on ‘Community’ and the people in our community that can help us. Students have enjoyed learning about all the different people that do different things within our local community. It has been wonderful to see their curiosity grow and their want to learn new and exciting things. As part of this unit, we are learning all about fire safety.
Fire Education Incursion:
The students thoroughly enjoyed their visit from the local Fire Brigade. A big thanks to Chloe’s dad and the other firefighters for coming out to educate our students on the dangers of fire and how to be safe. We can’t wait to see them again this week for some more fun and learning.
Literacy:
Our literacy sessions run from 9.10am right through until 11.30am. We appreciate families ensuring students arrive promptly each morning so that all literacy learning can begin on time. A settled and punctual start to the day allows students to fully participate in our literacy block and maximises valuable teaching and learning time.
In Literacy, we continue with our structured morning block each day. The students are gaining confidence and are beginning to take on the challenge of writing CVC (consonant–vowel–consonant) words independently. Some students are now writing multiple words and, with support, are attempting simple sentences. We are focusing on remembering to use an uppercase letter at the beginning, finger spaces between words, and a full stop at the end. We also provide regular reminders to keep letters sitting neatly on the lines.
Readers continue to be sent home. We kindly ask that you continue to be proactive reading with your child each night. Home readers should not be difficult for your child. Please remember to fill in the reading diary with notes on how they are progressing as we do read these regularly.
