Library News

Opening hours are 8am – 5pm, Monday to Friday on school days.
Holiday Reading
The library has a current selection of winter reads on display in the entrance for students to select for holiday reading. Students are asked to return their overdue library books before the end of term in order to borrow for the holidays.
Sun Project CBCA Shadow Judging 2025
The Shadow Judging students have been diligently reading and critiquing two novels that have been shortlisted for book of the year in the Older Readers category. To do this, students follow a judging rubric to score each book based upon five criteria. The total score of each book forms the basis of selecting the winning book for 2025.
One of the books, A Wreck of Seabirds is written by the author Karleah Olson who is currently undergoing a PhD in Australian Coastal Gothic Literature. To celebrate this book and this niche genre, the Shadow Judges walked to the Mentone foreshore, ate a fish and chip lunch while talking about all thing’s literature.
Post it Wall
The 2025 Post-it wall is under construction. In keeping with the 70th anniversary theme of MGSC, the students are building a mural that illustrates this significant milestone. It will take 1,288 post-it notes and a couple of weeks to complete.
