Student Success Stories

MGSC students pursue a diverse range of sports and physical activities outside of school hours. They challenge themselves and often represent their school with integrity and commitment. These accomplishments were recognised at the recent assembly. Here is a brief recap and update of our students' recent successes.
Sarah Williams Bowls them Over!
We would first like to congratulate Sarah Williams (Year 12) .
Sarah recently participated in the Lawn Bowls Australian Open on the Gold Coast. This is the largest bowls competition in Australia. Players from other countries such as the USA and Singapore competed at the event. Sarah competed and had some great wins! She also had the chance to watch some of the top bowlers in Australia, and the world. Well done, Sarah!
Grace Patten rules Australian football
We would also like to congratulate Grace Patten (Year 11). Grace shines on the football field. In 2024, Grace Patten was captain of the Victorian AFL Girls U15 Team at the National Championships. She was one of four girls from Victoria who made the all-Australian team (top 22 players in the country). Unfortunately, Grace sustained an injury late last year, preventing her from trying out for the Victorian team again in 2025. Grace has demonstrated incredible resilience and determination to recover and get back to the sport she loves. Recently, Grace was selected by School Sport Victoria, through a very competitive process, to be an Assistant Coach for the Victorian U15 Australian Football team at the School Sport Australia Championships at the start of Term 3. Congratulations Grace.
Ava's magical touch football achievements
Ava Rennie (Year 8) has been selected to represent Victoria in the Under 15 Girls Touch Football team at the 2025 School Sport Australia National Championships.
Ava is one of only 13 girls chosen from across the state. This is the fourth consecutive year Ava has been selected to represent Team Victoria, having played in the U12 team for the past three years, including as co-captain in 2024. It’s an incredible achievement and a real testament to her commitment, skill, and hard work.
Phoebe rolls through the competition
Phoebe Earl (Year 9) is competing in the 20th Asian Roller Skating Championships in South Korea later this month.
Madi plays on and everywhere at every level
Madi Ryan's (Year 10) exceptional talents in basketball continue to take her around the world representing her country. Madi is currently in Prague preparing to represent Australia in the FIBA U19 Women's World Cup.
That’s correct - MGSC’s Madi Ryan is on the U19 Australian Gems World Cup team. That's well above her actual age group. Madi will also represent Australia in the U16 Australian Sapphires team in the Asia Cup in Malaysia later this year.
