Ministry

As we begin a new term, our school community is turning its attention to something deeper than academic achievement or sporting success.

This term, we’re talking about Inner Excellence, the qualities that shape who we are at the core.

We intend to reflect on 10 powerful qualities: courage, forgiveness, love, hope, clear thinking, grace, peace, humility, integrity, and truthfulness.

These are traits we want to see in ourselves, and in the people around us. Because when you really think about it, don’t we all want to be surrounded by people who are kind, trustworthy, and brave?

Yes, it’s natural to want to succeed, to get good grades, do well in music and sport, or look good on the outside. These things matter. But only to a point.

What truly defines us is what’s on the inside.

Inner excellence is what makes us great friends and great leaders. It’s what helps us stay strong in tough times. It’s what makes us people others can rely on and be inspired by.

As the Bible reminds us:

“Guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” – Proverbs 4:23

“People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” – 1 Samuel 16:7

Just as we lock our homes and keep our school safe, we also need to protect our hearts, letting in those who build us up and being cautious with those who don’t. When we’ve been loved well, we love well. When we’re healed, we bring healing.

God is deeply interested in the real you, not just what people see, but the you that experiences struggle and worry, hopes, and dreams.

As we follow Jesus, let’s commit to growing that part of ourselves. Let’s pursue Inner Excellence, together with God.
