From the Principal

Dear Endeavour College Families,

Today, we had the pleasure of coming together as a whole College community to celebrate our Mid-Year Awards Assemblies, recognising students across all year levels for their outstanding achievements in the areas of Application, Excellence, and Merit.

It was a joy to witness so many students being acknowledged for their commitment, growth, and perseverance. Mr Daniel Wooldridge will share further insights and reflections on these celebrations in his article.

These awards followed the fantastic results that we had received earlier in the week for Year 7 and 9 NAPLAN. As an update, please also note that your child’s individual NAPLAN results have now been uploaded to the Reports section of the TASS Parent Portal. You are encouraged to log in at your convenience to view and download a copy of these results.

We are incredibly proud of the academic achievements of this year’s cohorts with both our Year 7 and Year 9 testing means, scoring above the state averages, which has been consistent since 2023.

The results reflect the hard work, dedication, and growth shown by our students across the assessed areas of literacy and numeracy.

If you have any questions regarding your child’s NAPLAN results or would like to discuss them further, please don’t hesitate to contact Lucy Higgins (Middle Years Learning Coordinator) or your child’s Head of Village.

As highlighted in the June 2025 edition of School Matters, Endeavour College continues to see the positive impact of our decision to adopt the government’s “Off and Away” mobile phone policy, introduced in 2023.

While not mandatory for independent schools, we chose to implement the policy in full, and the benefits have been clear.

Now, two years on, recently released data confirms what we have observed within our own community:

  • A 72% decrease in incidents related to mobile phone misuse, including cyberbullying and inappropriate content sharing.
  • The majority of remaining concerns now occur outside school hours or

    off-campus.

  • A measurable increase in student wellbeing, engagement, and connectedness across South Australian schools.

At Endeavour, staff have observed greater focus in the classroom, stronger face-to-face connections among students, and a noticeable uplift in the overall College atmosphere.

Our students have embraced the change with maturity, and the broader data affirms that this was the right decision for our community.

As a spokesperson from the Department for Education noted:

“This nation-leading mobile phone ban has been an important change, helping students concentrate on their studies and build face-to-face relationships.”

In further support of student success, I’d like to highlight our Good Standing Policy, which outlines the academic, behavioural, and attendance expectations for students involved in co-curricular sport and activities.

The policy promotes responsibility and balance, ensuring that students meet clear standards in order to represent the College.

You can view the full policy here:

We’re also proud to announce an exciting new addition to our co-curricular program.

While Endeavour College actively participates in SACSA (Years 7–10) and the Rijken Cup (Years 11–12), there has been no annual event to showcase our top sportsmen and sportswomen in head-to-head competition, until now.

Together with Cornerstone College, we are launching an annual intercollegiate sports fixture, strengthening connections between our two Lutheran schools.

The inaugural event will take place in Week 9, Term 3, Thursday 18 September, beginning at 2:30pm and hosted by Cornerstone College.

This new event will feature elite

student-athletes in Years 9–12 who are involved in internal or external club-level sport, with competitions in:

  • One male AFL team (First XVIII)
  • One female netball team (First XII)

The matches will be held during the final period of the school day to encourage strong student and community attendance, building a culture of school spirit, healthy rivalry, and engagement.

Thank you, as always, for your ongoing support as we continue to nurture academic growth, student wellbeing, and a strong sense of community at Endeavour College.

Mr Richard Baird

Principal
