Year 11

Cell & Cell Membranes

Our Year 11 VCE Biology students have been diving into the fascinating world of cells and cell membranes. In recent weeks, they’ve been learning about the structure and properties of cells, and how the cell membrane regulates the movement of substances in and out.

Students put theory into practice by conducting hands-on experiments, investigating how surface area to volume (SA:V) ratios affect diffusion rates and exploring osmosis using dialysis tubing. These practical activities not only helped reinforce key concepts but also built skills in scientific observation, measurement, and analysis.
