Term 3 has kicked off with a bang in Visual Art and Technology. Year 7 and 8 Technology rotations has meant students are learning new skills in subjects such as Food Studies where students have been practicing their knife skills, demonstrating safe use of knives in the preparation of a range of vegetables for their salad wraps. They have practiced a range of cutting techniques, including julienne, slice, dice and chop. Students are loving preparing healthy and delicious ingredients for their salad wraps and enjoyed them for lunch or afternoon snack.

In Product Design, Year 8’s are currently completing their bird boxes, where they are in the process of developing a range of designs to suit the needs of Australian birds. In Year 8 Systems, students have begun their character designs for their circuit project and are learning all about electronics, whilst in Textiles, students have been exploring indigenous influences in the Textiles industry. They are also about to begin designing their ideas for their soft toy project whilst practicing their stitching skills.

In Years 9 and 10, students find themselves in new semester-based electives such as Media, Innovative Creations, Visual Communication and Fashion & Products to name a few.

And finally, our Year 12 VCE students are in the process of finishing their practical pieces as part of their SATs, a journey that has lasted many months and has meant many late nights.

For Media, students this may mean their short films, animations, photography narratives or graphic novels to name a few. The range of talent on display across the faculty has been nothing short of amazing and as teachers of these subjects, we can’t wait to see the final products, with works being celebrated in our annual Arts and Tech Showcase in November.
