Athletics Carnival
Sport
The 2025 Wantirna College House Athletics Carnival was another huge success. Great weather (thankfully the rain held off), competitive track & field events (including the 2nd Wantirna Gift), and the novelty races (organised by our fantastic Year 11 VM students) were highlights of the day. Thanks to everyone who took part in an event, and to all staff for their efforts in running another successful carnival. Read on for the results.

Articles from our 2025 Sports Scholarship students:
On Tuesday, the entire school went to the newly renovated Knox Athletics track to compete in our annual athletics carnival. The day started off with a Year 12 parade with all sorts of fun and hilarious costumes such as the Avengers, Cookie Monster and Elmo as well as a whole cricket team!
Students competed for their house in a variety of track and field events such as sprints, relays, long and triple jump, shot put and discus. The atmosphere was electric with students wearing their house colours as well as lots of cheering, encouragement and sportsmanship on display.
A highlight from the day was the Wantirna Gift where students from different age groups raced each other in a handicapped event. Awesome job by Harry Ashley in Year 7 to come away with the win in the open boys event beating Year 12 students! In the end Byrne house came out on top in a fun day out for all.

This year the school athletics carnival was absolutely amazing, the wide variety of sport events and fun things to do blew my mind. From high jump to javelin, everyone had something to participate in any have a chance to win a ribbon and advance to the division level. I participated in high jump and shot-put and I had loads of fun, even getting the same jump height as the record one in Wantirna College (for 13 boys). Overall the athletics carnival was a blast and highly recommend everyone going.
