Student Wellbeing

Happy Week 4!
We are absolutely loving the beautiful sunshine and being able to play and spend time outside.
Biketober - Week 4
Bling Your Bike Day!
It’s the final week of Biketober! This Friday is Bling Your Bike Day, and we’re encouraging all students to decorate their bikes or scooters and show off their creativity! We’ll be looking for the most creative and bedazzled wheels, with one lucky student winning this week’s prize!
Celebrating Learning and Connection
Year 2NA: Empathetic Listening
This week, 2NA explored the importance of empathetic listening and what it means to truly listen to others. Students worked together to create a class definition of empathy, sharing their ideas about how we can show understanding, care and kindness towards others. Congratulations to 2NA on their wonderful assembly presentation!
Child Safety: Working Together to Keep Children Safe
This week, our staff will come together to review and strengthen our practices in line with Child Safe Standards 10 and 11. These standards focus on implementing clear policies and procedures to keep children safe, and ensuring these practices are regularly reviewed and improved.
As a school community, we are committed to creating an environment where every child feels safe, respected, valued and supported. This work involves ongoing reflection, collaboration and a shared commitment to child safety across all areas of school life.
What does this mean for families?
Families play an important role in creating and maintaining a child-safe school community. You can support this work by:
- Encouraging your child to speak up if something makes them feel uncomfortable or unsafe.
- Reminding your child that trusted adults are available to listen and help.
- Reading school communications and familiarising yourself with our child safety policies and procedures.
- Sharing any concerns about your child's safety or wellbeing with the school so we can work together to support them.
By working in partnership, we can continue to strengthen a culture where children's safety, dignity and wellbeing remain at the centre of everything we do.
Looking Ahead to Week 5: GEM Day
We are looking forward to celebrating GEM Day in Week 5, with a day dedicated to Gratitude, Empathy and Mindfulness. The day will provide students with opportunities to strengthen their emotional literacy, build positive relationships and deepen their sense of connection and belonging within our school community.
Families are warmly welcome and encouraged to join us for our morning assembly and The Resilience Project learning in classrooms.
Our GEM Day timetable
Morning Assembly: 9:00–9:40 am
We will begin GEM Day by coming together as a school community for our morning assembly. Parents and carers are warmly invited to join us.
TRP Classroom Sessions: 10:00–11:00 am
Students will participate in The Resilience Project (TRP) learning sessions in their classrooms, exploring gratitude, empathy and mindfulness.
GEM Rotations: 11:40 am–1:40 pm
Students will take part in a range of engaging activities designed to strengthen their understanding of gratitude, empathy, mindfulness and emotional literacy.
Community-Building Games: Final Hour
We will finish the day with collaborative games that encourage teamwork, strengthen relationships and build a sense of connection and belonging across our student community.
Parent Volunteers Welcome!
GEM Day was a wonderful success last year, thanks in part to the fantastic support of our parent volunteers. We would love to welcome families to be involved again this year!
If you are available to help with activities throughout the day, please email Vicky (Vkaralis@sfmoreland.catholic.edu.au) and Bianka (Bzorzut@sfmoreland.catholic.edu.au), letting us know the times you are available. Your support will help make this another memorable day for our students.
Friday Shout Out
Last week's Shout Out went to Miss Marsico for being kind, caring and funny. Thank you for being a great teacher. And congratulations to Mr T, who received three nominations for being nice to everyone, fun and making everyone's day better.
It is wonderful to celebrate the everyday acts of kindness, empathy, effort and leadership that help make our school community such a positive place to be.
