Year 2 -  Celebrates German Language and Culture Through Baking

Our Year 2 students recently enjoyed a wonderful hands-on German learning experience that brought language, culture, and community together.

In class, students learnt the German names for common baking ingredients and practised a simple dialogue about making a cake. They enthusiastically used their new vocabulary while following the recipe together, speaking as much German as possible throughout the baking process.

The highlight of the unit was our special Kaffeetrinken afternoon, where students proudly shared the delicious cake they had baked with their families and friends after school.

The room was transformed into a welcoming café, with beautifully decorated tables, tablecloths, fresh flowers, and warm cups of coffee and tea creating a relaxed and inviting atmosphere. It was wonderful to see students confidently using their German, serving the cake they had made, and sharing their learning with the people who matter most to them.

The afternoon was filled with smiles, conversations, and a genuine sense of community. It was a beautiful opportunity to experience a cherished part of German culture, where gathering over coffee and homemade cake is about much more than the food—it is about spending quality time together.

A heartfelt thank you to all the families and friends who joined us and helped make the afternoon so special. We are incredibly proud of our Year 2 students and the enthusiasm they showed for learning German in such a meaningful and memorable way.
