What is Happening in Science?
Earlier in the term, a team of 5 Year 11 students took part in a hydrogen powered RC car grand prix at the Toyota Center for Excellence in Altona.
It was a mammoth four-hour race against 17 other teams. This was amazing opportunity for our students and they clearly loved the experience. If was fantastic to watch the team develop and their confidence grow during the build-up to the race.
I could not have been more proud of the Scoresby Scorchers on race day. I watched from afar as they problem solved the various technicalities that developed.
Ultimately, we finished as the top ranked state school in Victoria but were just 10 laps short of making it to the worlds in the USA next year.
This was an achievement beyond what we could have expected when we started this journey at the start of 2024. Thank you to KIOSC who generously supported of participation in this event.
Our Year 7 students had their second excursion to KIOSC this year. They explored the use of emerging technologies that will assist communities with disaster management in various situations.
Students embraced the technology, and the problem-solving activities that required a team effort to save the world from certain disaster.
