Junior School Report
Junior School Update
In terms of weather, Term 3 has been a rather difficult one, the sky is still dark when we wake and the weather is terribly cold.
All that negativity hasn’t stopped our Junior School students from working hard at school and enjoying the various opportunities that this term has already presented.
Our youngest group of students were able to experience the wonderful KIOSC excursion due to the great work of the Science team at Scoresby Secondary College.
They explored a variety of different concepts in practical exercises in a laboratory style environment with professionals in their workplace.
This experience is invaluable to our students having them come back saying things such as ‘it was so cool’ and ‘Kiosc is Skibidy’ (I’m lead to believe that means good?).
Hearing positive things from our students makes organising experiences like these all the more rewarding.
Our Year 8 students have been working on a presentation in English that was very successful.
Year 7 students were offered the opportunity to walk through the expo-style setup to see what the Year 8 students had been working on and learning. This was a great insight for the Year 7 students to see what their next 12 months could look like and it gave the Year 8 Students a huge confidence boost.
The Year 8 students also went out on Basketball and came away with 4 out of 5 wins. A huge congratulations to our Basketball team.
Finally, the oldest of our Junior school students, have been undertaking a process to explore what 2025 and beyond looks like for them.
Course counselling and subject selections process for 2025 was completed recently.
Students were involved in engaging conversations with their parents and staff members to help guide them along the most favourable path for what they believe their future could look like, and for those with no idea, all the options are presented in a way that seems less threatening and scary than ‘this is what you’ll do for the rest of your life’ makes it seem. We are super excited for what’s to come during the remainder of this Term.

The Human Story Incursion
As part of our “Women in STEAM” program, a selection of Year 8 and Year 9 students participated in an incursion that explored the evolution of human beings.
In this hands-on workshop, students measured replicas of fossilised skulls and examined skeletal remains of hominins.
Student reflection about the day:
“It was fun and interactive.”
“I loved working as a group in a supportive environment.”
“Learning about our ancestors was fascinating.”
