Product Design and Technology
Year 9 Product Design Students were recently set a challenge and tasked to design and produce a pair of sunglasses for a themed event or festival.
They were given the brief and had to follow the principles of the Diamond Design and complete the project in 45 minutes.
Amidst lots of collaboration, processing and producing the result was an exceptional design displaying function, appeal and very good interpretation of the design brief.
Our Year 12 students continued to work on producing their designed product and recording their progress throughout the design and production phase.

Music
Students in Year 8, have been exploring World Music from Indigenous Australian music to African Music and Djembe Class Performance in the subject of Music this semester.
We have been participating in whole class practical using djembes exploring the different sounds that the instrument can present. Students work together to perform in unison while reading music notation and are given the opportunity to express themselves through rhythm making.
Khushdip Kaur shares her experience so far.
"I am really enjoying my time in music class this term. The djembe, in particular, has been an amazing instrument to play, with its rich sounds and rhythms bringing so much energy to each session. We're also exploring world music, which is exciting and different, opening our ears to a variety of cultures and sounds. Miss So has been an incredible teacher, guiding us through each lesson with enthusiasm and intelligence. Her passion for music makes the classes not only educational but also incredibly enjoyable. We all look forward to every class and the new things we get to learn and explore together."

Food Studies
Second semester welcomes all Year 7 students to the Food Studies area. So far students have been learning all about safety and personal hygiene, along with equipment and measurement needed to work in the kitchen at school (and home).
Year 9 students started the term off looking at food styling and found it very interesting some of the hacks used to present food. They are now focusing on baking and have designed and made some appealing biscuits before they get into the egg white challenge and sponge making.
Our Year 10 students are currently exploring the importance of maintaining a safe food supply in Australia. They are looking at FSANZ, HACCP, food recalls and the importance of keeping food safe – from paddock to plate and beyond. Knife skills have been a focus – making a Buddha Bowl and Minestrone Soup.
Year 11 students are currently looking into food industries and conducting research into the ethics of the export of live animals.
Earlier they were tasked with designing foods to promote gut health and came up with some terrific ideas.
