Thanks to all the families who heard our call out and have donated requested materials. This fortnight we are on the call out for:

Prep

This fortnight students have continued to explore Materials and take on a building challenge connected to a fairy tale. We have been deep in The Three Little Pigs with students up to their third and final house, the brick house. They have been deep in The Learning Pit, developing their grit and determination to find a way to get the their structure solid so the Big Bad Wolf cannot blow it down.

Year 1 and 2

This fortnight students were an exceptional example of Moriac Primary students to the broader community, as we walked down to Newling Reserve and observed our local bird life. We were lucky enough to be joined by Jenny Possinger, or Miss Possum as the students called her. Jenny shared with us her expert bird knowledge, helping us to identify 18 different birds across the two days. Students were immersed in the project, seeing their local park in a new light, brimming with wildlife.

Year 3 and 4

This fortnight students continued working on testing and creating their miniature golf course. After including our marble golf balls, students found that their courses no longer functioned well and had to redesign elements to make it work. In their discoveries, students revisited the criteria and went deep in their themes and started to work on the aesthetic of their courses.

Year 5 and 6

This fortnight, students began the design and creation of their carnival style games. They revisited the elements we have been exploring in the term and reviewed the criteria and available of sustainable materials in our room. Students spent a lot of time planning and designing before some groups began to create, test and occasionally, redesign their games. It has been a real insight into how students collaborate and innovate in to a set criteria.
