Student Leadership

A letter from our 2026 College Captains

Hey Macleod College Community!

It feels like just yesterday we were writing our introduction as your 2026 College Captains, and now it is time for us to say goodbye and introduce you to your new captains, who we know will do such an amazing job representing the students and creating new opportunities for all of you to experience.

We would like to reflect on our experience as your College Captains and our time in leadership and to thank you for how enjoyable you all have made it.

We have both been a part of leadership since Year 7 and throughout the years we have had the opportunity to act on what students most wanted to see in the school and create some fun adventures that we hope future students will enjoy as well. In Year 8 we were able to change the school uniform rules as well as create some new uniform pieces in hopes of making each student a bit more comfortable with what they had to wear each day to school. Our biggest accomplishment was the introduction of the Year 10 Gold Coast Camp and Day Trips. Through tireless work with Mr. Panaccio, Ms. Wallis and Ms. Tran, we managed to establish a camp and alternative day excursions that helped create and strengthen relationships between students in the cohort as well as the teachers that came along with us. We felt this was important as Year 10 is the last year before VCE begins and establishing connections with the people we see everyday helps to create a support system through some challenging years which we felt was important to have. And not to toot our own horn, but we were right. The week spent in Gold Coast made everyone become closer with each other, and the nights we spent watching sunsets, playing volleyball and card games are the memories we will cherish most.

We would also like to thank Ms. Tran for her incredible support in our leadership journey and teaching us the skills we needed to be the best College Captains we could be for you all. Her support has never gone unnoticed and she helped us with every crazy idea we had, and her faith in us is the reason we are your 2026 College Captains.

We also take great pleasure in introducing you to your 2027 College Captains, Daniel T and Erin S, Deputy College Captains, Zeynep K and Cordelia H, with Sports Captains, Teagan C and Angelina L, and Performing Arts Captain, Daniel E! We congratulate them on this achievement and we know that they will accomplish so much in their roles. Our advice to them is to enjoy your final year and the opportunities this role will give you.

We thank our teachers, parents and friends for their amazing support throughout this year and as much as we are sad to leave you all, we know you are in great hands.

Your 2026 College Captains,

Zoe S and Louise T
