Foundation News

We had another busy but short week in Foundation last week, with the highlight being our Book Week Parade on Friday! The costumes were incredible, and it was so special to see some of our favourite book characters come to life. We were incredibly proud of our brave Foundations for getting involved in the parade, showing confidence and, most importantly, having lots of fun!
We continued our Book Week celebrations throughout the day by reading some of the winning stories, completing a word search filled with words connected to this year’s theme, ‘Symphony of Stories’, and creating our very own book covers featuring the character we dressed up as. It was such a fun day celebrating our love of books and stories!
During the week, we also got crafty as we continued our learning about animal habitats. We have been exploring what different animals need to help them survive and thrive, and the children have been busy creating habitats that include these important features. We can’t wait to share their wonderful creations with our families at the Art and STEM Show next term!
This week we will be learning about…
- Numeracy- Subtraction and Measurement
- Reading- revision of letter sounds and digraphs ( ch, v, y, x, wh, th, oo, ng, ay) stretching out words, blending the sounds together and reading tricky words
- Writing- writing information reports by recording different sounds we can hear in the words we want to write and using full stops
- Inquiry- What do living things need to survive?
We would love your continued support with number formation, particularly as we are noticing some number reversals, as well as practising our tricky words to build reading fluency and confidence with writing.
