Student Awards 2026

The awards recognise young people for their resilience, achievements, or contributions in 2026.

Winners were announced at the IELLEN breakfast event (following the IELLEN AGM) that was held on Wednesday 27 May 27 at the Royal South Yarra Lawn Tennis Club.

Nominated from Glen Eira College was

Dean Tetoros, Year 12 VCE Vocational Major (VM) student, participating in the Certificate III in Design Fundamentals at Box Hill Institute.

The Student Recognition Award winner was Dean Tetoros. Dean has demonstrated a high level of motivation, independence, and maturity throughout his Vocational Education Training (VET) at Box Hill Institute CBD campus.

Dean successfully completed a Certificate II in Creative Industries with the Academy of Interactive Entertainment (AIE) in 2025 and in 2026 is undertaking the Certificate III in Design Fundamentals (Design Focus) to improve his web design opportunities post Year 12.

His commitment to completing his VET courses alongside his school program reflects strong self-leadership and an ability to manage competing priorities with focus and determination.

Dean's ability to work independently has been a particular strength, and he consistently applies himself with discipline and purpose. He has excelled in his Structured Workplace Learning workplace tasks at the Greek Community Centre, showing sound knowledge of workplace skills.

Due to Dean’s skills, the Greek Community Centre has offered him a permanent job post Year 12. Overall, Dean has made excellent progress in his Design Fundamentals (Design Focus) Vocational Education and Training program and his Work Placement.

Dean was successful in winning the Student Recognition Award from Inner Eastern Local Learning & Employment Network. The award was presented by Brad Rowswell, who currently serves in the Victorian Parliament as Shadow Minister for Education, Shadow Minister for Industrial Relations and Shadow Minister for Government Services.

Dean received a framed certificate, and a voucher from a nominated list of retailers.

Congratulations Dean from all the staff and students at Glen Eira College for your creativity, resilience and achievements.

Dean's achievements have also been highlighted in the Greek Newspaper Neos Kosmos. You can read the article here.
