7C Visit to Melbourne Museum

On Thursday 18th May, 7C (the French immersion class) went to see the Ancient Rome exhibition at the Melbourne Museum. Our class rode the train to the museum and once we arrived we ate our snack/lunch. After our quick break, we went inside the museum and had a 30 minute lesson before we had the main event (the Ancient Rome Exhibition). The lesson taught us about replicas of artefacts and we were taught how to look at an object and ask questions about it, we even got to illustrate some objects. When we finished the lesson we walked over to the exhibit and before we started we were given a scavenger hunt/note book for us to fill out. Throughout the day we learnt about ancient Rome, the Roman Gods and Goddesses and lots of other interesting facts about Ancient Rome. I personally really enjoyed the bathhouse exhibit where we learnt that the bathhouse was the place the Romans went to gossip and relax! The day was very fun, educational and a great experience.

Berthe Mouchette Competition

More than 30 Year 7, 8, and 9 students participated in the Berthe Mouchette French Poetry Competition in May. Students had to memorise and recite a French poem in front of a French assessor. Our students put a great deal of effort into learning and performing their poems.

New Caledonia Pen Pals

Students in 8C and 9C were excited to recently receive their letters from their pen pals in New Caledonia! This special project has given students a wonderful opportunity to connect with peers from another country, learn about a different culture, and practise their communication skills in a meaningful way.

Opening the letters was a highlight, with many students eager to read about their pen pals’ lives, interests, and daily experiences.
