日本語 Japanese

Konnichiwa from Japanese class!

In Term 2, we have been learning about the Japanese house, its unique features, and its customs in Grades 3 /4 and 5/6. They designed their house using vocabulary such as Tatami (Tatami mat), Shoji (sliding door), Ofuro (bathroom), Tokonoma (display room), and Kotatsu (heating table), and learned what they are used for in a Japanese house. They also built their designed house with Lego this week and described it using that vocabulary.

I am planning to make a Japanese Garden with Foundation, Grades 1 and 2 next, so if you have any shoeboxes, please bring them to the school. It does not have to be that big if you don't have them; it could be tissue boxes, any box that you think is OK for the miniature zen garden would work for them. However, please do not stress if you do not have them. I will make sure we have enough for everyone and make it to the end of the semester.

Hope you enjoy the picture for Grades 3-6! I will make sure to take some good photos of the junior class for the Japanese garden. Have a lovely long weekend!
