YEAR 11 EVENTS

The Year 11 students returned on 28 August from the Snow Camp at Perisher. I was lucky enough to join them this year, and what an amazing experience it was. A big thank-you to the staff members who accompanied the students and worked tirelessly to ensure everyone remained safe while enjoying all that the mountain had to offer.

Many our Year 11 students also recently participated in Australian Business Week (ABW). This was a fantastic opportunity for students to develop and apply real-world business skills within a simulated business environment. Through problem-based learning and teamwork, students were challenged to create a product, make business decisions and operate a hospitality business. It was a valuable experience that encouraged collaboration, creativity, leadership and practical decision-making.

WEAR IT PURPLE DAY

The College celebrated Wear it Purple Day on Thursday 27 August. Dedicated to supporting and celebrating young people who identify as LGBTQIA+, this day began as an Australian student-run initiative and has grown into an international movement. Thank you to Mrs Amanda Morrison and the Rainbow Alliance who led the celebrations at the College.

UNIFORM

As we move into warmer weather, many students have already taken the opportunity to start wearing their summer uniform. As you may already know, we have reintroduced the two-week changeover period at the end of Term 3 and the start of Term 4 where students can wear either the full summer or full winter uniform, from Week 3 of Term 4 all students will be required wear their summer uniform.

While students are no longer required to wear their blazer to the College and morning Homeroom, Term 4 marks the return of the Sunsmart Policy, where students are required to wear the hat that is part of their summer uniform for any prolonged period, including recess and lunch.

Please note that to support families that struggle to get to the Uniform Shop, the College can arrange for uniform items to be delivered to one of our campuses.

FOOTY COLOURS DAY

The College celebrated Footy Colours on Tuesday 1 September. Students dressed up in their team colours in the lead-up to the AFL finals series. It was great to see so many students and staff getting involved in the day, and it was particularly pleasing to see large numbers of Carlton jumpers this year. Read more about this day on the College News and College Sport pages.

CAMPS

Our Year 7 students enjoyed camp in Victor Harbor from Monday September 7 through to Thursday September 10, whilst our Year 9 students are currently in Central Australia.

We trust they had and are having amazing experiences and returned or will return with plenty of wonderful memories, new experiences and stories to share. Most importantly, they all will have strengthened friendships and created special connections that will stay with them well beyond their time at the College. These are the experiences that become lasting memories and are treasured for many years to come.

R U OK? Day

The College celebrated R U OK? Day 2026 on Thursday 10 September, by holding a BBQ for all to share as an opportunity to check in with a mate on this important national day of action.

R U OK? Day encourages us to take the time to check in with the people around us and have meaningful conversations with those who may be experiencing challenges or simply need someone to listen. A simple question, such as 'Are you OK?', can be the beginning of an important conversation and a reminder that no one has to face difficult times alone.

While R U OK? Day provides an important opportunity to pause, connect and check in with one another, the message extends well beyond one day. Asking 'Are you OK?' is something we can do any day of the year. By continuing to look out for one another, listen without judgement and create genuine connections, we can help build a caring and supportive College community where everyone feels valued, heard and supported.

2027 COLLEGE CAPTAIN SPEECHES

We have been incredibly proud to see a wonderful group of students put themselves forward for the opportunity to serve as our 2027 College Captains. This year, we had 19 students give speeches to the whole school community – a huge number, positively reflecting the excellent cohort we have of Year 11 students.

Through the College Captain speeches, the students shared their ideas, aspirations and vision for the College community. Standing before their peers and staff, they demonstrated confidence, courage and a genuine willingness to take on the responsibilities that come with student leadership.

It was wonderful to see the passion and enthusiasm each student brought to their speech, highlighting the many qualities they believe they can contribute to our College. Whether successful in their application or not, every student who put themselves forward should be commended for having the confidence to step outside their comfort zone and embrace this opportunity.

We congratulate all our applicants on their efforts and thank them for demonstrating what leadership is truly about: having the courage to step forward, serve others and make a positive difference within our College community.
