Thank you to all of our CAPA students who have worked so hard during Term 2 on so many CAPA projects, including our School Musical.  The CAPA Faculty are so proud of you all!  

The 50th Anniversary Alumni Musical - Mamma Mia, The Musical

Congratulations to all of the students and Alumni who participated in making our twenty second musical, Mamma Mia, The Musical come to life.  Our talented cast, dedicated Music Ensemble, hard working technical crew and supportive Alumni worked so hard to bring this show to the school community.  What a week and what a show!!!  

We are all so thankful that we completed all of the shows this year and that the audiences loved it.  Thank you to all of the Alumni who took to the stage, played in the music ensemble, participated in the technical crew or helped out on the production team.  We absolutely loved having you back at school working with us this year.  It was truly an amazing experience. 

Thank you to the parents and our school community for supporting the rehearsal process, buying tickets and coming along to watch the shows.  Thank you to all of the staff who attended one of the shows.  Thank you to all of the Office staff and teachers who also assisted during the rehearsal week and shows.  Thank you to the Senior Executive and Office staff who organised our refreshments for the shows. The CAPA Faculty really appreciated everyone’s support.  

Now the discussion has turned to…”What Musical will be doing in 2027?”.  Stay tuned!!

Year 9 & 10 CAPA Evening 

What an incredible night! 

Congratulations to our talented Year 9 and 10 students for their outstanding performances at CAPA Evening. Captivating drama pieces from our Year 9 Drama class and Drama Ensemble to vibrant musical performances from our Year 9 & 10 Music classes. There was energetic dance performances from our Ballroom Dance Ensemble and Year 9 Dancers and stunning visual arts work from our Year 10 Visual Arts class. Students truly shone on stage and in the gallery. 

Thank you to all staff, families, and friends who supported the event—your encouragement made it a great success! We’re so proud of everyone involved. 

Dance and Drama

Congratulations to the Elderslie High School Dance Ensemble and Ballroom Dance Ensemble who performed at The Southern Tablelands Dance Festival in Week 7. This event was held at Wollondilly Performing Arts Centre. The Dancers performed their work “The Forest Floor” and “Summer Nights”.  They have rehearsed throughout Term 1 and 2 to complete the dance works and represented our school admirably. Well Done to all involved. 

Congratulations to our Year 9 Drama class, Year 11 Drama class and our Drama Ensemble who successfully auditioned to be part of the In The Spotlight Drama Festival 2026.  Year 9 have playbuilt a piece titled “New Year New Me”, which explores the concept of new year resolutions. Year 11 have playbuilt a piece titled “Conspiracies Anonymous” which explores all of those conspiracies that plague us.  Our Drama ensemble are presenting a fun scripted piece based on a nursery rhyme. The festival will be held at the Campbelltown Arts Centre on Monday 3rd August 2026.  Tickets go on sale soon and details will be emailed to parents as soon as they are available.  

Year 12 Music

Year 12 Music class attended SWS HSC Music 1 Study Day in Campbelltown Performing Arts High School on Thursday 4 June. Students collaborated with HSC markers, guest presenters and a network of local schools through a variety of performance and aural workshops designed around enhancing their understanding of the HSC Examination. 

Elderslie High School Vocal Ensemble

This term saw the exciting launch of the Elderslie High School Vocal Ensemble. Open to students with a passion for singing, the ensemble has already begun rehearsing and developing vocal skills through a variety of group singing activities. Although still in its early stages, students have shown great enthusiasm, commitment and teamwork during rehearsals. We look forward to seeing the ensemble continue to grow throughout the year and to sharing future performance opportunities with our school community.  If you would like to join, see Miss Townsend or Ms Dennis in the CAPA Staffroom. 

Visual Arts 

This term, Year 8 Visual Arts students completed an artwork for The Arts Unit program, Operation Art.  This is an initiative of The Children’s Hospital and the New South Wales Department of Education.  The program includes exhibitions and workshops for teachers and students.  The CAPA Faculty had the difficult job of selecting two artworks to send in for the competition.  Congratulations to Iyla Das and Olivia Bright for their amazing artworks.  We hope their artworks will be selected in the HOSPITAL 50, that will be gifted to the Children’s Hospital at Westmead.  

Year 11 and Year 12 Visual Arts students recently had an inspiring visit to the Art Gallery of NSW and the Art Express exhibition. This immersive experience provided students with the unique opportunity to engage directly with contemporary and historical artworks, deepening their understanding of artistic techniques, themes, and creative expression. By exploring Art Express, which showcases outstanding works by HSC Visual Arts students, they gained valuable insights into the standards of excellence and innovative approaches within their own curriculum. This visit not only enriched their appreciation for visual arts but also sparked motivation and fresh ideas as they prepare for their final assessments. 

CAPA Support - Drama

This term, students in the Support Unit have enjoyed their mission in learning what it takes to become a Director for a musical studying Musical Theatre in the CAPA Drama program. Students have explored the role of a Director in making the final decisions for a musical from costume to set and stage designs. Students have established their Director’s Portfolio and enjoyed having the opportunity to visit the Drama Studio and showcase how lighting is used to add elements of the story and create effects. Next term we will be focusing on Visual Arts.

Visual Arts Club

In Visual Arts Club this semester the students have been working towards completing and creating artworks for Camden Show with Scarlett Bowser winning second prize for her painting and a Year 8 student receiving a highly commended award for her painting. Zali Ryan, Evangeline Moores and Kaiden Kane-Jarvis also created and exhibited works for Camden Show. The students in art club are currently working towards creating and developing a collection of artworks towards the Stadler art competition and Fishers Ghost Festival which are coming along beautifully reflecting the amazingly talented students in Visual Arts Club.
