This term we welcome Miss Maggie to 1/2LT. She is currently studying to become a primary school teacher and will undertake some observations and teaching rounds with Ms Laura and Ms Terri throughout this term.
Our students have made a fantastic start to Term 4 in literacy. It’s been wonderful to see children continuing their reading at home and returning their take‑home books each Friday, helping build strong reading habits. Last week we explored the bossy e, discovering how it changes short vowel sounds. We read a book titled Banana Pancakes, and we even made delicious pancakes.
During writing this term, we will be focusing on Information Reports. The children have been very interested in learning about different unusual animals and finding out cool facts.

In Maths, students have been exploring halves, doubles and quarters, using hands‑on materials to strengthen their understanding. They have been focusing on using language such as equal groups to help them remember to carefully share between groups.

During Ed in Faith this week, we have explored the Creation Story. Students learned that God lovingly created the world and everything in it, step by step, calling all of creation good. We talked about how God made light, land, plants, animals and people, and how each part of creation shows God’s care and creativity. The children made creation wheels that help to retell the 7 days of creation. Kai took home the prayer bag for the weekend and enjoyed the activities in it.

In Inquiry, students have been learning about what it means to treat others fairly and equally, and how respect is shown in our classroom and wider community. We’ve explored real‑life examples of fairness, discussed how our choices impact others, and practised using respectful language and actions during group activities. Students are beginning to recognise when situations are fair or unfair and are developing strategies to respond kindly and confidently. This term we will be learning about other cultures. We will be asking the children to bring in some items from their cultures to share with the class.
Frank spent a few days with Leo. He got to visit Leo's Judo class and play basketball with him.
Barry went for a visit to Ryan's house. Barry got to go for a bike ride to the park, watch the Ice Age movie, and help with the grocery shopping. Barry liked eating pancakes and sushi at Ryan's house.

We wish the following children a fabulous birthday!
