Welcome Term 4!

We hope all our families had a wonderful, restful break and that our students are feeling refreshed and ready for an exciting final term! As we step into Term 4, we are focusing on preparing our Grade 1/2s for next year by reinforcing positive expectations, responsibility, and independence. A key way you can support your child at home is by making sure their homework folder is returned every Friday morning so we can swap out their materials weekly.

Literacy- Grade 2

Our Grade 2 writers have been diving into persuasive texts! To launch the unit, students explored four learning stations to identify different formats (letters, speeches, posters, and reviews). They investigated who each text was written for, spotted the author’s main opinion, and uncovered the reasons behind it. Now, our young authors are taking the reins and beginning to craft their own opinions with strong, clear supporting reasons!

Maths- Grade 1

Our Grade 1 mathematicians recently wrapped up an exciting unit on Data! Students loved gathering data through peer surveys and observational tallies, including an outdoor trip to tally car colours in the school car park and construct a group pictograph. This week, we've jumped right into mastering Addition and Subtraction strategies!

Inquiry

In Inquiry, our students have been exploring what it truly means to treat others with fairness, equality, and respect, both in the classroom and across our wider community. Through real-life examples and group activities, students have been discussing how their choices impact those around them and practicing respectful communication. It’s been wonderful to see them identify fair and unfair situations while developing kind, confident ways to respond.

Looking ahead, this term we are embarking on an exciting unit about different cultures! To help make this learning personal and meaningful, we will soon invite students to bring in a special item from their cultural background to share with the class.

Ed in Faith

Our Education in Faith lessons were filled with wonder this week as we journeyed through the Creation Story. Students learned that God lovingly created our world step by step, calling all of creation good. From the formation of light and land to plants, animals, and human life, we reflected on how every detail reveals God's care. To help share what they learned, the children created hands-on Creation Wheels to guide them in retelling the story of the seven days.
