SFX GIVING TREE APPEAL

Last term I met with the SRC who discussed which charitable organisation the school should support for our end of year 'Giving Tree Appeal'.  After viewing the role and expectations of several charities the students decided we should once again collect for  Community Support

Frankston.  Their reasoning was that people were able to donate a variety of goods, such as Christmas toys and fare, everyday non perishable groceries and toiletries. They also liked that the organisation looks after a range of  local citizens including the homeless and appreciated that the CSF staff are always so overwhelmingly grateful for the generosity of our families. I was very impressed by the level of discussion and the articulate and respectful manner in which they shared their opinions. The SRC will shortly be sending out information about how families can contribute items that will be placed around our school Christmas tree and then delivered to Community Support Frankston to distribute.

OCTOBER MONTH OF THE ROSARY

October is traditionally celebrated as the Month of the Rosary, a special time to reflect on the

life of Jesus through the eyes of Mary, His mother. Throughout the month, our teachers will be sharing with students how to use rosary beads as a way of praying, helping them to become

familiar with this beautiful Catholic tradition. As we pray the Rosary, we are invited to slow down, reflect on the stories of Jesus, and bring our prayers of gratitude, hope and love to God through Mary’s intercession.

FIRST COMMUNION CONGRATULATIONS

Congratulations to Alana in Year 5 and Alexa in Year 3 who received the Sacrament of Holy Communion during the school holiday break at St Thomas Syro-Malabar Parish. Following the mass Alana and Alexa enjoyed a wonderful celebration with their family and friends.  The girls were very enthusiastic about sharing details of this beautiful experience which included a shared feast and dancing. Alana said she was so happy to receive the Lord on her special day and felt a greater strength with Jesus in her heart. Alexa said she was very happy to receive the bread and wine blessed by God.
