🌟 What We Have Been Up To
What a fantastic Term 3 we have had in Year 1! 🌟
It has been such a busy and exciting term, filled with lots of wonderful learning experiences. Some of our highlights have included our Rippon Lea Estate excursion, the Teddy Bear Hospital incursion and all the fun of Book Week, especially seeing everyone dressed up as their favourite characters! 📚🧸🏡
It has been wonderful to see just how much learning, growth and progress everyone has made throughout the term. I am so proud of all the hard work, enthusiasm and persistence the students have shown.
It is hard to believe that we are already heading into Term 4 and the final term of Year 1!
I hope everyone has a safe, happy and restful two-week break and enjoys some well-deserved time with family and friends. I look forward to seeing everyone refreshed and ready for another exciting term! 💛

Reading & Writing
Students will begin a persuasive text unit using engaging picture books such as I Wanna Iguana, A New Room for William and I Wanna Go Home. We will explore how authors use persuasive language to convince their audience and identify the reasons and arguments characters use to support their point of view. Students will practise sharing their opinions, giving reasons and using persuasive language before creating their own persuasive texts.
Mathematics
Students will be exploring data by collecting, sorting and representing information in different ways. They will use simple surveys and class investigations to gather data, create picture graphs and other displays, and answer questions about their findings. Students will practise comparing data, identifying what is most and least common and explaining what the information tells us.
Inquiry
Students will begin our Growing and Changing unit, exploring how living things grow and change over time. They will investigate the life cycles of plants, animals and humans, identifying physical changes that occur at different stages. Through hands-on investigations and observations, students will develop an understanding that living things have different stages of growth and change.
