Ngarri Ngarri Student of the Week
Kirby Joachim
Kirby is a well respected and dedicated Year 10 student who is a member of the Kiewa House in the Dharnya Neighbourhood. So far this year, Kirby has received 184 positive acknowledgments, which is one of Kiewa's highest recorded tallies. Kirby has a history of achieving excellent SEAs results and fantastic feedback from staff with Kirby always submitting her learning tasks on time. Kirby has a high level of attendance and rarely misses a day of school.
Kirby loves participating in cultural activities such as yarning circles, NAIDOC Week activities, dance group and the Dunguludja Dana art program. Kirby is a mentor to primary school students as part of our joint mural with Gowrie Street Primary. She recently applied to attend The University of Melbourne's RISE Program that runs in December, if selected she will get the opportunity to investigate STEM and Indigenous STEM with a group of First Nations' students from around Australia.
Next year, Kirby will begin a VCE course. She will also study VET Hair & Beauty at GOTAFE. Kirby dreams of one day working in the beauty industry and has made sure that she has sought careers advice about how to achieve this and that she has the learning goals in place to support it.
Well done Kirby, keep up the great work!
