Year 12 Spirit Week

Last week the Year 12 cohort celebrated a 5-day 'Spirit Week', organised by our College Captains.  Spirit Week is an American inspired week of dress-ups that was aimed to take a bit of pressure off of our Year 12 students as we are about to embark on the final leg of our high school days which means the cortisol levels are high!

Each off our themes for the week were voted on by the Year 12 students and the most popular themes were chosen.

On day 1 the theme was 'Decades Day', this has become a GSSC tradition, and we had a large portion of students dress up from 2000s to 1900s inspired punk rock. On day 2 the theme was ‘dress as a teacher’ where everyone wore outfits inspired by our teachers- Mr Harris and Mr Bolton being the most popular muses. On Wednesdays the prompt was Mean Girls Movie inspired ‘On Wednesdays We Wear Pink’ where we had a massive amount of Year 12s participate. On Thursday the theme was ‘Rhyme Without Reason’, this is another American inspired theme where students wear a costume that rhymes with other students, this was done in pairs or up to groups of 5. And lastly Friday was ‘Book Week/Pop Culture’ dress up as it was Book Week, which was a whole school dress up day, even our teachers joined in.

Overall, the week was incredibly successful and is something we hope the 2024 Year 12s continue as a tradition.
