Victorian Schools Music Festival

On Wednesday 30th August, the combined Symphonic and Mid-Level Bands travelled to Hawthorn Arts Centre to perform in the Victorian Schools Music Festival. The students worked very hard to prepare a program of three pieces, received some great feedback from professional conductors and received a workshop on stage with one of them.

VCE Music Night

Our Year 12 VCE Music Contemporary Performance students will be performing their exam programs on Tuesday 12th September. This will take place in the Enterprise Theatrette at 6pm and will be part of the Art and Music night that starts at 5pm.

AMEB Success

Congratulations to Matthew Hanns on receiving an 'A' (Honours) for his

recent Grade 3 Piano for Leisure exam.

Classroom Music

Our Year 7s have been busy completing their CATs this week. They have been putting together a portfolio of videos and reflections showing their progress on Drums, Guitar and Keyboard. Our Year 10 Music Industry class have been busy rehearsing and setting up a PA for performances.

Instruments of the Week

This week our instrument is the Baritone Saxophone. This is the big daddy of the Saxophones and also creates the lowest woodwind sound in a concert band. One famous person who plays the Baritone Sax is Lisa Simpson. Any students interested in playing this instrument would need to be taller and be able to hold the instrument, so if you still have some growing to to do it may be better to start on Alto or Tenor Sax first and then move to Baritone when you’re ready.

Instrumental Music Program

We still have vacancies on a number of instruments in the Instrumental Music Program, particularly on brass and woodwind. If you are still interested in learning an instrument but haven't signed up yet, come and see Liesl on Level 1 of the Enterprise Building to collect some forms.
