Year 7 Read, Grow, Inspire Poetry

Year 7 students used inspiration from this year’s theme and artwork to write a “Read, Grow, Inspire” acrostic poem.

Reading is an

Escape from the world

Around us, and a place to

Dream

Grow,

Roots of the mind shooting

Out into the

World of Knowledge, a place where your mind can grow.

Inspire,

Nobody can

See it but

People really make a difference

In your life, by inspiring you.

Read, grow, inspire is something

Everybody should follow and look up to.

Emilia Grieve

Reading can transport you

Every day can be an adventure, a new land to explore.

All kinds of stories beckoning you closer,

Dancing with words, winding and twisting.

Getting smarter and growing with every page read,

Remember and make connections to involve even more.

Oceans of content to challenge yourself

Words nurture your imagination to make it grow.

Inspire yourself and give yourself a challenge,

New authors, genres, overflowing ideas.

Surprise the reader with a plot twist to change their view

Projecting a perspective of the world never seen before,

Illuminating a pathway to their imagination.

Read every word, every page you can

Entertained and entranced by tales of wonder.

Riley Wooster

Read

Every book

And

Dream about what you read.

Great

Run

Of

Wisdom

Inspiring people to read.

Not reading any book

Slows the

Possibilities of learning new things every day

It is

Really

Exciting to read books every day and everywhere.

The Eye Of The Sheep

Laguna is an Australian author who has most beautifully descriptive writing. After I first read this book, I read it another seven times on repeat because of the enchanting atmospheric images that Laguna creates.

Saltwater Boy

by Bradley Christmas

Recommended by

Oakleigh Pendlebury

Even in a world of bad there can be good opportunities and outcomes.

One Of Us Is Lying

 by Karen M McManus

Recommended by

Sulieti Atu

The book shows all four main characters’ perspectives on a suspected murder. One of them is lying!

Book Clubs

Are you passionate about reading? Are you interesting in sharing your thoughts about characters, themes and ideas?

Book Club is a place for students to read and discuss the books that they are reading in a safe and inclusive environment. If you want to see what it is all about, come along to Book Club on Fridays in the Dharnya Library.

Book Club Review

Teen Titans Full Throttle

Written by Adam Glass

Illustrated by Bernard Chang

Why I loved it:

I loved this book because it was like I was watching a movie. I loved the colour and the semi detailed drawing.

What it is about:

This book is about superheroes who are sick of doing things the way they have been taught. They change by doing things their own way, even though it means harming and even killing evil villains to keep things safe.

Who I would recommend this book to :

I recommend this book to people who love comics and conflict between heroes.

I also recommend people get library cards and visit our libraries at lunchtime!
