MY CAREER INSIGHTS-YEAR 9 MORRISBY CAREERS PROFILING.

The Department of Education gives every year 9 Victorian Government school student free access to the world leading Morrisby online career education tool. All Year 9 students will undertake Morrisby Careers Profiling. This will take place on Thursday 5th March across periods 3 and 4. Students will need charged laptops for this activity. We will have an introduction to Morrisby Careers Profiling and students will be able to undertake some practice questions on Thursday February 26th in Year 9 CONNECT. They will need charged laptops for this session as well.

Morrisby helps your child make informed choices for senior secondary school and beyond by exploring their strengths, interests and career opportunities. Please give consent on COMPASS for this event, as the school needs your consent to give your child access to Morrisby. The My Career Insights program pairs your child’s Morrisby profile with a free one-on-one expert career consultant session which will be held in week 4 of Term 2, supported by the Australian Centre for Career Education. This is an important opportunity in year 9. It will help your child update their career action plan, make big decisions and stay motivated to learn.

YEAR 10 WORK EXPERIENCE 22 TO 26 JUNE 2026-NEW DIGITAL FORMS.

We had an assembly this week for all Year 10 students to remind them about work experience and to explain how to use the new digital forms.

Work experience is compulsory for all Year 10 students. Students are encouraged to try to find work experience in an area that they would like to pursue as a career, as it is a good opportunity for them to explore career options.

We are here to assist students with this process, but we encourage students to take the initiative in finding their placements.

Official Forms need to be completed by Thursday 28th March 2026 at the latest please.

Many students have already found a placement and now need to get the digital forms completed. Students were informed about the process of looking for work experience late last year as well.

They have a plastic pocket to bring home with information about how to complete the digital work experience forms. The plastic pocket contains the following:

  • Work- Based Learning Application Student Letter for Work Experience
  • Student Work Experience Arrangement Form Quick Reference Guide
  • Work-Based Learning Application Work Experience Information Sheet for Parents and Carers
  • Parent and Carer Work Experience Quick Reference Guide

Students should have received an email with the subject Get Ready! It’s time to complete your Work Experience arrangement form.

Please check your school emails.

Parents/Carers should have received an email as well.

Once students have found work experience, fill in your section of the digital work experience form and ask your parent/carer to complete their section as well

  • Have your employer’s contact name and email address ready to fill in the form and your emergency contact details-name and number.
  • There may be extra forms to complete if you are working with animals or travelling in a car with the employer during work experience.

The digital form will go to:

  •  Student and Parent to complete their details.
  •  Employer to complete details
  •  Back to Ms Alexander for checking
  •  Then it will be sent for signatures to Student, Parent, Employer and finally the Principal.

INTRODUCING DIGITAL WORK EXPERIENCE AND STRUCTURED WORKPLACE LEARNING FORMS

Work experience and structured workplace learning are important parts of our career education program at Greensborough College. They help students to explore potential jobs, develop employability skills, understand workplace expectations and make informed education and career choices.

We are excited to be introducing digital forms for work experience and structured workplace learning placements. They replace the paper forms we’ve used previously and simplify the process for everyone. You and your child can fill out and sign these forms online at your convenience, from a mobile phone or computer, saving you time.

These digital forms are securely stored and handled in compliance with records management policies and Victorian privacy laws.

We are always on the lookout for quality work experience and structured workplace learning opportunities for our students. If you think you can provide a placement for one or more of our students, please contact Ms Jane Alexander on 94332666.

If you do not wish to use the new digital forms or have any questions regarding work experience or Morrisby Career Profiling, please feel free to reach out to Jane Alexander (Careers Practitioner).
